This hits home. A few weeks ago, I was intimate with someone. We were on my bed and I had actively taken both mine and her clothes off. However, when it came down to it, and as she was about to go down, she stopped to ask me if I was okay with continuing.
This is the exchange that followed:
Me: Do you not want to?
Her: Of course I want to… I’m asking if you want to.
Me: ….I… don’t know.
She immediately climbed up to meet my eyes with hers and just held me. I really really really appreciated it.
Moral of the story: Just because someone is an active participant, doesn’t mean they can’t retract their consent at any point. As well, I don’t know or I’m not sure means no.

Somebody please tell me how it is socially acceptable to go out drinking under 16 how it is classed as ‘cool’ How is it right that people can take drugs from like 11 years old and people don’t seem bothered. How is it completely acceptable for anyone under 16 to have sex, its acceptable to smoke and to swear all the time and as i said people seem to think its cool and such an awesome thing to do, if you get drunk high and sleep around. How is all of that acceptable in life before you’re 16 yet its socially unacceptable for a sixteen year old or anyone in their teens (16-19) to say they want to get married or even to be married or engaged, It puzzles me how getting pissed, wasting away your liver and your lungs and sleeping around is a good thing yet showing your love and commitment and saying that you are mature enough to get married and say that you want to be with someone for hopefully the rest of your life is frowned upon. What type of world are we living in?
